There is only one Kentucky Derby Party in Arizona where you can watch, wager, and win on the Kentucky Derby broadcast AND live local horseracing. And that’s at Turf Paradise.
In order to win the Triple Crown, a horse must win the Kentucky Derby, the Preakness, and the Belmonte Stakes in the same year. The first horse to do so was Sir Barton, 100 years ago in 1919.
Only 12 other horses have achieved the honor since then. Interest in the sport of horse racing was rekindled in 2015 when American Pharoah became the first Triple Crown winner since 1978. Three years later, Justify stunned the horse racing community by winning the Triple Crown in 2018.
The biggest and best Kentucky Derby party in Arizona is Saturday May 4 at Turf Paradise. The first 5000 paid admission get a free Derby glass and the chance to watch, wager, and win on the derby and a full card of live local horse racing. The day also includes an over the top fashion contest with cash prizes, food and drink specials including Mint Juleps, live music, a kids fun park with bounce house inflatables, and a special performance by the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show.
Grandstand admission is just $5, and kids 16 and under get in free for grandstand only. Grandstand seating is on a first come first serve basis. Gates open at 7:15am. The Derby broadcast is approximately 3:24pm Arizona time.
