Horsemen' Bookkeeper (Paymaster)
Horsemen’ Bookkeeper is open live race days to conduct business with Owners, trainers and jockeys from 10:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. (Bookkeeper will be available at 8:00 a.m. for deposit of funds needed for race day, required by commission rules, scratch time for non payment is noon on race day; Equine pool and jog tickets and license validation ONLY). Location: west end of grandstand in accounting offices.

W9s: All accounts with the Bookkeeper require w9s to be on file. For our Foreign owners, a copy of issuance of ITIN number (Individual Taxpayer Identification Number). Bookkeeper has paperwork available for W7 application requests for ITINs.
NO CHECKS WILL BE ISSUED WITHOUT W9’S OR ITINs. W9 forms are available from bookkeeper or from the IRS at www.IRS.gov under “forms”. (Note: If you fill out a w9 for licensing with ADOR, it is with the state and you will need one with the Bookkeeper also.)
Check Requests: Checks may be requested via phone, email or in person. If requesting via phone, voice mail or email, please include the last four digits of your SSN.

CREDIT ACCOUNT NAME SHOULD BE WHO IS RECEIVING THE FUNDS!!!
Claiming requirements: When claiming a horse, cleared funds ONLY must be on account with the Bookkeeper prior to filing the claim. Cleared funds are: cashier’s checks, cleared purse funds, wire transfer (received in ample time). There is no claim tax in Arizona. Claim slips are available from the Bookkeeper, must be filled out correctly and dropped in the box prior to box locking (10 minutes before post time) See the Claims Clerk or Stewards for additional claiming procedures.
Trainer 10%: Owners may “opt in” with the Bookkeeper to pay their trainer’s 10%, deducted from the owners account, All forms must be notarized in order to be acceptable. Wendy Hobson, HBPA officer, (located in the HBPA office by the Starting Gate Café across from the training track) is a notary, available Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. during the live racing season.

Deposits: When making deposits with the Bookkeeper for your account, please keep in mind that the checks MUST be made out to Turf Paradise or TP Racing LLLP with account information in the memo line. The Bank will not accept checks made out to any other way.
Check cashing: Checks from the Bookkeeper’s office may be cashed at Turf Paradise at the check cashing window (located at east end of lower level grandstand, north side) on live race days from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Checks not cashed at Turf Paradise must wait until banking hours the following business day for cashing or depositing due to Wells Fargo Positive Pay policy.
Payment of fees: Pursuant to Arizona Racing Commission codes R19-2-109C(1), R19-2-113C(2), fees for racing (entry, start and jockeys fees not covered by 1% purse payment) are due by noon of race day or your horse will be scratched by the Stewards for non compliance.
