Prohibitive favorite McKenzie Honey romped to victory in the $51,775 fillies division while even-money choice Yo Y Me delivered for the $60,162 colt and geldings in split divisions of the Arizona Thoroughbred Breeders’ Fall Sales stakes for aspiring two-year-olds Saturday at Turf Paradise.
Martin Bourdieu sat confidently as he guided 2-5 favorite McKenzie Honey ($2.80) to a nine-length victory for owner-trainer Jonathan Nance. Top Hat Wildcat finished second and Bring On the Bling third in the field of seven juvenile fillies. McKenzie Honey, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Parading, covered the 6-furlongs in 1:11.02 for her third career win in six starts and earnings of $74,023. Meanwhile the William Matthews, Lloyd Yother-owned Yo Y Me ($4.20) rallied for a half-length victory over Howdy Kingkowboy with Wolf Bounty third in the field of 11 colts and geldings. Trained by Kevin Eikleberry and ridden by the trainer’s son Ry Eikleberry, Yo Y Me covered the 6-furlongs in 1:10.92 for his second win in six starts.
