At the request of our clients, the Commission overturned a decision from an Administrative Law Judge and revoked the Racing license of Ronald A. Simms of Beverly Hills, CA. Ronald was a former partner at TP Racing. The Commission concluded that Ronald violated the Racing laws of Arizona and made knowingly false statements to the Arizona Department of Racing. As a result, the Commission found that Ronald does not meet the statutory qualifications to hold a Racing license. Specifically, Ronald A. Simms does not have sufficient good repute and moral character to satisfy the statutory requirement for a Racing license to participate in or be employed by a race track in the state of Arizona.
The firm also represents TP Racing in an ongoing civil lawsuit. The claims involve a $6.5 million promissory note and the lease of property adjacent to Turf Paradise, a pari-mutuel race track in Phoenix. The firm obtained summary judgement for TP Racing on these claims against Ronald Simms and one of his companies.
